Welcome to Year 1 and 2

We have an exciting year ahead where we will be learning and developing many new skills.

Your child will learn phonics through Read Write Inc.

PE is on a Thursday. Please send your child into school with PE kit.

Please provide your child with a suitable coat and footwear for Well and Wild Wednesday.  Children will also have access to outdoor learning on a daily basis.

Key words will be assessed each week on a Thursday or Friday.

Reading books will go home on a Friday and need to be returned by Tuesday.

Please provide your child with a healthy snack and a drink daily.

Children will swim in Tredegar Leisure Centre during the Spring term.

Our Autumn term topic:  Amazing Me

Good Morning Year 1 and 2

Monday 30th April

The start of a new week  smiley

This week on Purple Mash:

Write an email to a friend telling them what you did last week i.e played in the garden, made things, practised spellings etc.  Remember to use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.  Use RWI sounds to help you spell.

A topic last year was Beat, Band Boogie where we looked at creating our own music.  Maybe create music for Springtime.

Use 2Explore and create music.

Press record at the top of the page and choose different sounds/instruments to make a sequence of music. Press play to hear it back.  I look forward to listening to your music.

Time Tables Test

You have been practising your 2's, 5's and 10's times tables.

Complete the assigned tests and see how well you do!

I will reassign or assign new activities on Mathletics.  So far we have practised multiplication and division and fractions.  I will check your progress.

Daily to do's -

  • Keep reading each day - Use Oxford Owls for free ebooks. (StJosephsrc and Reading) Set it for your child's age and ability.

  • Keep practising your Key Words, I'd love to know how you are getting on and what set you are now on.

  • Keep practising and rehearsing your Read Write Inc sounds.

Have a good week.

I will speak to you all tomorrow.

Stay safe.
