Welcome to the Year 5 class page.

We have a busy and exciting term ahead, so feel free to check out the information below or check out our Year 5 Autumn 2022 newsletter.

This half term, our topic is 'I am amazing!'. We will be:

  • Reading the book ‘Swap’ by Malachy Doyle to learn about the importance of friendship.
  • Learning about life cycles of humans, plants and animals and investigating how we age.
  • Learning about World Habitat Day.
  • Learning about ourselves across different subject areas.
  • Expressing ourselves in the form of creating self-portraits.

We encourage parents/carers of Year 5 children to follow our school on Twitter @StJoseRC1 and to check ClassDojo for updates on our class learning.

General reminders:

  • Swimming will be every Tuesday morning from 13th September until the end of half-term.
  • PE is on a Thursday every week - Please ensure your child has their PE kit on this day.

If you have any queries or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us on ClassDojo.

European Day of Languages - 26th September 2022

On 26th September 2022, Year 5 took part in the European Day of Languages by learning about Poland. We researched and discussed various geographical and cultural aspects of Polish life and combined them into a fact-file about Poland.

We also tried various Polish foods such as Kopykta (Polish Potato Dumplings) and had a platter of Szynka (ham) and Mlekovita (gouda cheese). Da iawn Blwyddyn 5!smiley
